It is recognised for the stylistic consistency of its wines which have been made by five generations of the same family since the firm’s foundation in 1822. Fonseca Vintage Ports are noted for their expressive, luscious fruitiness, which develops great opulence and complexity with age, as well as a voluptuous roundness on the palate supported by velvety mouth-filling tannins.

Tasting Notes: Impenetrable black colour. A classic Fonseca nose dominated by an exuberant, hedonistic fruitiness, a powerful redolence of dark dense blackberry and blackcurrant which slowly releases a heady mix of spicy and herbal aromas,

Quinta de la Rosa, 2009

Vintage Port

La Rosa's classic house style achieved by slow maceration in traditional granite 'Lagares' has produced a wine full of luscious forward fruit with a very attractive nose and a long velvety slightly drier finish across the palate

La Rosa is a vertically integrated Quinta rising to 450 metres above sea level, boasting many hidden micro climates within its cirtilage. Where possible we vintage and mature these small 'lotes' separately in order to achieve the maximum complexity in the finished ports, which would not have been possible from a less diversely planted property.

Quinta de la Rosa, 2009

Colheita Single Harvest Port

This Colheita is rather unusual – at one level there is plenty of young, mature fruit (black plums) and at the other, there are a more tertiary, complex flavours associated with dry fruits and spice. On tasting, at the beginning, the wine is vigorous and full of flavour getting more complex on the palate and ending with a mixture of fresh fruit, nuts, dried apricot and spice. The finish is very elegant and long. This Colheita successfully marries two worlds – the energy and opulence of fruit from Ruby ports and the elegance and complexity of Tawnies.

La Rosa is a vertically integrated Quinta rising to 450 metres above sea level, boasting many hidden micro climates within its cirtilage.

Reviews

"As ever, Vesuvio is packed with its generous, opulent ripe fruit, showing richness, dense flavors, layers of jam and sweetness with a hint of caramel flavors. This is a Port for indulgence, ripe, rich and packed with flavor." - 93 / 100 Points, Wine Enthusiast.

Quinta do Vesúvio is situated far upriver in the Douro Superior, 120 kilometres from Portugal’s Atlantic coast and only 45 kilometres from the border with Spain. Taylor's Port, 2009

Vintage Port HALF BOTTLE 37.5cl bottle

95 Points - Wine Journal

Reviews:Going back and forth, the Taylor's 2009 has a lighter nose than the 2007 with precise dark cherry, Seville orange, fresh fig and a hint of scorched soil. The palate is full-bodied packed with ripe black cherries, fresh fig and white pepper; very harmonious and focused although I feel that the 2007 has a little more depth and persistency. Very pretty and very pure, this Taylor's may well put on weight with a couple of years in bottle and merit a higher mark. Tasted May 2011.
Score: 95 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, June 2011
